  • Introduction to muscle awakening
    and body clairvoyance
  • Form and function of the skeleton
  • Form and function of the major joints
  • Ligaments in yoga
  • Muscles and tendons
  • Stretching physiology
  • Stretching biomechanics

Application of the fundamentals in asana
(the lower chakras):
  • Standing poses (awakening the psoas)
  • Forward bends
  • Hip openers
Application of the fundamentals in asana
(the mid and upper chakras):
  • Twists
  • Back bends
  • Arm Balances
  • Inversions
  • Restorative Postures

Pranayama:
  • Anatomy and physiology of the breath
  • Opening the thorax
  • Fundamental pranayama

Ray Long picRay Long MD FRCSC, author of Scientific Keys Volume I: The Key Muscles of Hatha Yoga, is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and the founder of Bandha Yoga. Ray graduated from The University of Michigan Medical School with post-graduate training at Cornell University, McGill University, The University of Montreal and Florida Orthopedic Institute.
