practitioner.
Your back health influences all aspects of your life, including
posture, work, play and even sleep. Yoga techniques are effective in
alleviating pain. Yoga helps maintain a healthy back.
The workshop will explore common back issues such as weak lower back,
whiplash, sciatica, lower back pain, disc issues, swayback and rounded
upper back. You will learn how to use yoga therapeutics to improve back
health.
This workshop includes:
• Understanding common back issues.
• Postural assessment and awareness for proper body
alignment.
• Yoga Therapeutics for back issues
• Learning to use core strength to support the lower
back.

Joan
E. Ryan, E-RYT 500, is
a Certified Professional Integrative Yoga Therapist (E-500 hours) and
Kripalu Certified Yoga Instructor (200 hours). Joan began her study of
yoga in 1972 with Eunice Wellington- Siddhi a yogini who lived and
studied yoga extensively in India. After completing Joseph LePage’s
Integrative Yoga Therapy-Professional Yoga Therapist program Joan
became a mentor for the program. She has studied Ayurveda with Dr.
Narayan and Scott Blossom. She is a Reiki Master. Joan has developed
and taught many special interest yoga classes and lessons such as:
Alzheimer’s disease, Anxiety Disorders, Arthritis, Asthma, COPD,
Depression, Digestive Disorders, Fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel
Syndrome, Parkinson Disease, Pre & Post cancer and heart surgery,
and Scoliosis. Joan lectures and volunteers her services at hospitals,
Hospice, cancer and other support groups. She also teaches Yoga for
Stress Management at local businesses and Not-for-Profit organizations.
