the end of this workshop, you'll be reading this, savoring the precise
pronunciation and pure energy of Sanskrit,
and gaining direct access to
the ancient wisdom encoded in this sacred language.

Enjoy a weekend of meditative
immersion in learning the pronunciation and devanagari writing of the
Sanskrit alphabet, combined with Bhumi’s special blend of yoga postures
and pranayama breathing and affirmations to support the mind in
heightened focus, and to open the chakras and energy in the body to
absorb the vibrations of the language. A dynamic model of yoga in the
classroom supporting effortless, natural focus, this weekend is an
adventure into the beauty and energy of Sanskrit and Yoga.
Learning Sanskrit with Bhumi is fun and educational. You
don't have to be a linguist; and you'll be amazed how logical and easy
it can be when taught in this method.
The weekend
is open to everyone. Yoga
teachers will leave being able to pronounce the postures and other
words correctly, read and write the Sanskrit alphabet, and to even read
some Yoga Sutras!
1. Learn to speak, read, write the devanagari alphabet
2. Feel the location, force and power of sound
3. Notice vibrations in the head, body and chakras.
4. Learn to correctly pronounce commonly used words and yoga postures
(asana)
5. Read Yoga Sutras (scriptural quotes) in the original Sanskrit
language
6. Be present in the experience with effortless focus and see how time
flies with meditative awareness.

Harriet
Russell, known as “Bhumi” in the yoga
world, is a
Certified and Registered Yoga Teacher Trainer, Certified Massage
Bodyworker, and Certified Holistic Health Educator.
She holds a Masters Degree in
Linguistics, is fluent in several languages including Japanese and
Spanish, and is currently studying Russian! Encyclopaedia
Britannica published her book, How
to Teach English to the Japanese; and she translated for ABC
News at the Tokyo Economic Summit.
With her interest in Eastern writing
systems, Bhumi began studying
Sanskrit over 20 years ago and has been enthralled ever since. She
studies The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali in the original Sanskrit,
uncovering meanings and depths not possible in the translated versions.

Bhumi loves to
teach various languages using a yoga model of focus and
relaxation. As Director of Bhumi’s Yoga Teacher Training, she
finds Sanskrit a key to heightened awareness and increasing
consciousness… and makes it effortless and fun.
During Bhumi's eight years of residency at Kripalu Center in
Massachusetts, she served as a program teacher, teacher trainer and
bodywork certification teacher. Along with Deva Parnell
and Megha Nancy Buttenheim, she co-created the "Moon
Salutation".
A true educator, Bhumi blends several different
styles of yoga with her own personal approach and continues to expand
her knowledge. She has been teaching for over twenty five years and
some call her style "Bhumi's Blend." Bhumi has led workshops around the
world on various health issues. She appears on TV in the U.S. and
abroad, has been published, and has produced several yoga routine
tapes/CD's
