This Workshop explores basic strength training principles that allow yoga practitioners to pursue physical strength from the inside out.
  • Learn basic principles of strength training: overload, leverage, and use of props (including body bars, girty balls, hand weights and resist-a-balls.)
  • Apply structural integrated strength training techniques to yoga asanas (postures).
  • Practice relaxation and pranayama (yogic breathing) techniques.
  • Build a routine targeting a specific set of muscles that need strengthing.
  • Experience a Yoga & Strength flow of postures in motion.

Lisa McQuade, E-RYT-500, is a Lisa McQuadecertified Kripalu Yoga teacher with a masters degree in Sport Psychology and is an ACE certified Personal Trainer. She has been active in training her mind, body & spirit since she started training Shotokan Karate in 1981, at the age of 18. She has obtained the rank of Nidan (second degree black belt). Lisa has been Adjunct Faculty at Coastal Georgia Community College since 2000, in the Physical Education Department. She developed and now teaches courses in Martial Arts and Yoga there. She is also the Recreational Fitness Coordinator at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. While at FLETC she feels she touches far corners on our world. Academy students, staff and instructors leave class as more peaceful warriors. Lisa likes helping people get strong physically, mentally and spiritually through any kind of movement. Her Yoga classes reflect her compassion for the human spirit and the desire keeps the fun in our existence.
