An estimated twenty million Americans practice yoga as a means for managing stress, promoting health, retarding the aging process and creating a more meaningful life. This 200-hour professional training program in the Kripalu traditon is designed to provide training and experience for the career-minded student of yoga to gain the skills and confidence necessary to become an effective yoga teacher. Those certified in this program will be granted all the rights of a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher. Graduates will be eligible to register with the national YOGA ALLIANCE and allowed to use the registry mark, RYT (registered yoga teacher), and the "Kripalu" name in resumes, advertisements and other promotional materials.

After graduation, you will have the support of a network of yoga teachers: locally through DYTA, Discovery Yoga Teachers Alliance, and nationally through KYTA, Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association.

The curriculum includes instruction and practice in hatha yoga techniques including centering, warm-ups, postures, breathing exercises, deep relaxation, meditation and integration. In addition to the techniques and a foundation in yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology, you'll learn effective methods for designing classes, introducing new postures, clarifying details and guiding students into a deep, integrated yoga experience balancing precise physical alignment with a patient, reflective, compassionate attitude.

"The training program was wonderful. Deva creates a safe and loving environment that gives us all an opportunity to grow. I'm so glad I took the training and I know I am a better teacher because of it. When I taught my first class they applauded when I finished. It was humbling. "The instructional design was impressive; it allowed for the building of a
community that supported and challenged us. Students became active
learners and then active teachers in a step by step fashion. It was a "safe
space" and also an "edge". Growth and opening could be felt by the minute!."
-Peggy Prichard, Elementary Teacher and Yoga Instructor
