YIN YOGA TRAINING

This workshop is for yoga teachers or practitioners looking to add Yin Yoga to their practice and teaching repertoire. We will look at the history, philosophy, anatomy, physiology and guiding principles supporting a Yin Yoga practice, including the new research on fascia and the role of connective tissue.  We will explore different types of Yin Yoga such as Standing Yin (Qigong & T'ai Chi), Restorative Yin, Legs-up-the-wall Yin, and more challenging Dynamic Yin. Yoga Teachers will learn to lead a basic Yin Yoga sequence. Practitioners will be immersed in a Yin Yoga retreat.

  • Dynamic Posture Sequence

  • Appropriate Props

  • Appropriate Hold Times

  • Quieting the Mind--Yin as Meditation


Teachers learn how to teach a beginner Yin yoga sequence appropriate for all body types as well as more challenging Yin postures for experienced students. Using teaching methods inspired by Bernie Clark and Paul Grilley, we will demonstrate the use of props for each posture and the proper amount of time to be held. You’ll also learn about injuries and how to properly work with your students who may have limitations. Teachers learn how to teach a beginner Yin Yoga sequence appropriate for all body types. Practitioners will be immersed in a weekend Yin Yoga Retreat.

Scott Farber, Ph.D., RYT500/E-RYT200/YACEP has a doctorate in philosophy and holistic education, with over twenty years experience as a university professor and educational trainer.  Practicing yoga, t'ai chi and meditation for nearly 40 years, he is a graduate of the 500 hour Discovery Yoga Teacher Training, having studied also with Amrit Desai, at the Kripalu Center, Nosara Yoga Institute, and in Osho ashrams. A longtime teacher in the School of T'ai Chi Ch'uan, he also is trained in TM, Kabbalah, Qigong, Buddhist and Arica meditation, as well as the African drum tradition. Having taught in Hawaii, Asia, Europe and Central America as well as throughout the U.S., he now teaches Yin Yoga, Chakra Yoga, Dynamic Gentle Yoga, and the Yoga Basics Training course at Discovery while also leading 200 hr. and 300 hr. yoga teacher trainings and serving as Studio Manager. His integrative healing sessions blend Eastern and Western bodywork modalities. As a health and wellness consultant, he founded 5 Waves Learning and is an avid surfer, paddleboarder and waterman.

laudia Saucy aka "Karuna Pragya" 500-CYT, began practicing yoga and meditation at age 18, and later in life completed her 500-hour certification under Don and Amba Stapleton, renown teachers in the Kripalu tradition. She studied Ayurveda with Dr. Vasant Lad and Matthew Remski, among others, and is an Ayurveduc Lifestyle coach, a Bach Flower practitioner, and a private YogaGuide®. Holding a master’s degree in education, she moved from teaching academic subjects to children to teaching yoga in a variety of settings in Costa Rica, Canada, Italy, and the USA. Karuna brings to her Discovery Yoga classes the qualities that she is named for: karuna (compassion) and pragya (discernment). Combining breath, focus, and mindful flow, her movement explorations develop strength, and offer opportunities for relaxation and opening. Karuna's classes are an invitation to hold yourself with kindness while you explore with awareness the unique makeup of your body-mind-spirit.
