What will you learn? In
this four day program, Lakshmi will add a
new dimension to your teaching and/or
care-giving. The 25 hour teacher certification
will provide you with a firm foundation for
teaching Chair Yoga. The 25 hours qualify for
Yoga Alliance continuing education credits.
Along with meditation/relaxation, breathing,
acupressure, and the use of light weights to
build bone and muscle mass, you will
learn how to adapt classical Yoga asanas to the
chair (vs. the floor) — what Lakshmi terms
chairasanas.
In this training,
you will learn to:
Teach a one-hour therapeutic chair yoga class:
Choose appropriate postures and
breathing techniques
according to individual needs
Adapt postures to differing levels of
flexibility
Understand precautions and
contraindications for poses
and breathing techniques
Include other Eastern modalities to
improve health and well-being.
You will learn

earth salutation
warrior series
classical balance postures
other yoga asanas
anatomy overview
contraindications & precautions
for chairasanas
In addition, during the
4 day (25 hours) program, you will learn the
chairasanas for:
Double Chair Yoga™ (each student
uses two chairs)
Pair Chair Yoga™
(two students, each on their own chair, working
together as partners)
Weighted Chair Yoga
(each student employs appropriate weights
as part of their Chair Yoga practice)

wide variety of reading and viewing materials.
Your certification
will enable you to teach a one hour Chair Yoga
class with knowledge and confidence to a varied
audience. A certificate will be granted upon
successfully teaching a Chair Yoga class to your
classmates at the conclusion of the
certification program.

YACEP, AYC Ambassador, has over 45 years in
the fitness industry specializing in office
and senior fitness as well as
adaptive/disabled fitness.
Lakshmi developed Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga
in 1982.It was
followed by Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga - The
Sitting Mountain Series in 1990 and the DVD
- Get Fit Where You Sit in 2007.
Lakshmi has certified
more than 1300 teachers nationally and
internationally.This
includes healthcare professionals at the Mayo
Clinic and The New York City Department of
Education. She regularly runs teacher
trainings at the Kripalu Center, The Open
Center, YogaWorks, Discovery Yoga, and Texas
State University. She also offers Online
Teacher Training over Skype worldwide.
