FIRST LIGHT 2014 Prayers For World Peace New Years Day Wednesday, January 1, 2014 7:30 a.m.

Through the centuries, light has been a powerful symbol and substance. Light creates warmth and connection; light inspires hope, love, and life. So it is that we at Karma Triyana Dharmachakra are pleased to offer you an opportunity to bring light into your life - and the lives of others - with our Annual "First Light" Prayer and Lamp Offering. Since January 1, 2000, we have illuminated 108 lamps in our grand Main Shrine Room before our 11-foot-tall image of the Buddha Shakyamuni, asking that our offering contribute to universal peace and harmony. Now, for the 14th year, we invite you to join in our offering and prayers and help light spread throughout the world. You can dedicate your lamp offering to loved ones, celebrate an occasion, pray for the long lives of His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa and great masters of our lineage; you can even dedicate lamps to our beloved KTD Abbot, Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, who is celebrating his 90th birthday this year. Your support allows KTD to continue to be a light for the world; a place for the activity of His Holiness Karmapa to dwell like a flame and inspire compassion to all who draw near to it If you cannot join us in person, be sure to pray with us at 7:30 a.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday January 1, 2014, when we send up prayers for peace and harmony in the world.
