Discovery Yoga Center is an independently owned and
operated
Kripalu affiliated studio.
Deva Parnell,
founder and director of Discovery Yoga, has had a long relationship
with Kripalu Center, one of the largest and most
respected yoga centers in the world. Parnell, a former 12-year
Kripalu staff member, served as coordinator of Kripalu Yoga Teacher
Training and Staff Yoga Education. Since moving to St. Augustine
in 1999, she has brought the "spirit of Kripalu" to the First Coast
through Kripalu Yoga classes, workshops and her Yoga Teacher
Training program in the Kripalu Tradition, developed especially for
small groups and commuters
at Discovery Yoga Center
in St. Augustine's "old city".
The
Kripalu organization has been offering opportunities for yoga practice
and other forms of experiential learning for over 25 years. It
has become known the world over for the vitality of its spiritual
community, its unique approach to personal transformation through yoga
practice, and the heartfelt service of its staff. People have
come to associate the word "Kripalu" with a certain tone, feel and way
of being. This is reflected in Discovery Yoga's supportive
atmosphere and compassionate teachers, who follow an approach to
experiential learning based on three essential principles:
- Safety:
creating an environment of physical and
psychological safety
- Transformation:
engaging in practices that harmonize
body, mind and spirit
- Integration:
including activities that integrate the
body/mind experience and return people to their lives more grounded and
fully alive

about Kripalu - being in touch with my essence and feeling connected to
the divine within myself and others."

"The
yoga and walking experiences were excellent! I feel reconnected
to my physical self. I spend so much time living from the neck up, it
was a joy to be present and accepting of myself."
