Empowering  People  with  Inner  Resources  for  Healing

The workshop is open to experienced students as well as teachers. 

Develop the skills and confidence to support anyone at any stage of their journey with cancer. In this 16-hour course, you will learn how to use the tools of mindfulness yoga and meditation to create safe and effective practices for people living with cancer. This training can also be applied to working with people who have other chronic health conditions. 

In this workshop, you will:

      Explore the philosophy and practice of mindfulness as a tool for reducing suffering.

      Understand how mindfulness yoga and meditation practices can benefit people living with cancer.

      Learn about cancer, its main treatments and side effects.

      Learn about the mental, emotional, and psychosocial impact of a cancer diagnosis.

      Understand the limitations and precautions of working with a special population.

      Gain experience developing and delivering a mindfulness practice for cancer care

Tammy Bernard, Med, E-RYT 500
, holds certification in Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation and Yoga of Awareness for Cancer and works as an Integrative Medicine Practitioner and Yoga Therapist at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. Through mindfulness yoga practices, she encourages each individual to explore the inner landscape of mind, body and spirit as a means to greater self-nurturance and healing.

Sharen Lock, MS, E-RYT 500
, holds a certification in Yoga for Cancer and works as a Yoga Therapist and mindfulness teacher in the Integrative Medicine Department at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. Sharen believes that Yoga can enhance every phase of life and is dedicated to making it accessible to everyone, regardless of age and level of physical fitness or health.
