Learn to teach Yoga Dance in and out of chairs to people with special needs: People with Parkinsons, MS, the elderly, people with arthritis, people suffering from depression, people healing from cancer and/ or undergoing chemotherapy. This 5 day training is for body-centered teachers of yoga dance, yoga, bodyworkers, physical therapists, MDs, nurses, special-ed teachers, educators.

Let Your Yoga Dance Teacher Training for Special Populations will teach you to:
  • Serve people who need and want to move their bodies but are hindered due to illness, pain, lack of mobility
  • Study, practice, and teach appropriate pranayama-breathing techniques for this population
  • Discover creative ways to dance your yoga in chairs and to teach it to your students
  • Heighten your sensitivity to the emotional and mental needs of special populations
  • Slow down so that your students never feel rushed or pushed
  • Work with Balance
  • Treat your students with respect and care, promoting dignity and self-confidence
  • Increase your music library with appropriate music for your students
  • Understand the power that Music has upon the Brain
  • Utilize the seven chakras (the energy centers of the body) as a roadmap for your classes
  • Increase your own movement vocabulary so you can in turn offer new sequences to your students
  • Practice-teach and mentor fellow participants in the dance of yoga
  • Facilitate during sharing time after the practice classes
  • Practice-teach with visiting special needs students from the Berkshires
  • Learn how to stay grounded and not attached to outcome
  • Observe your emotions and steady your mind and energy field.
  • Be sensitive to the unique needs of this population

PLEASE BRING:
An IPOD and a laptop if you have one, or a small CD player. You will receive a CD to practice with on opening night.

RECOMMENDED Post-REQUISITE:
First Level of Let Your Yoga Dance Teacher Training: May 1-6, 2011 at Kripalu
Part 2, June 26-July 1,2011, will certify you as a Let Your Yoga Dance instructor for the general population

Dance in the sun near the sea! Come for a special program combining yoga and gentle dance with Megha at the beautiful Discovery Yoga Studio in St Augustine, Florida. This workshop will be a joyous experience of combining yoga and movement with tribal dancing and meditation in motion. Participants will consist of  a unique group of people: those who are brand new to the practice, those who already enjoy it and want more inspiration, and those who are YogaDance teachers wanting a refresher!

Prepare for three days of inspiration, renewal, exploration, and sunshine. Daily classes in Let Your Yoga Dance,  along with time outside, dancing on the beach!  YogaDance teachers will inspire newer students with their practice and newcomers will bring beginner’s mind to the group. Discover a happier body, mind, and spirit - and new friends.
In LET YOUR YOGA DANCE WITH THE SUN AND SEA you will:
  • Reconnect to the spirit of dancing your yoga in Paradise. Discovery Yoga is a true sanctuary with all the sacredness of Kripalu next to the sea!

    yogadance, breathwork, yoga, meditation.

About Megha
Megha - Nancy Buttenheim, M.A., founding director of Let Your Yoga Dance: Grace in Motion®, directs retreats and trainings nationally and internationally with a focus on healing body, mind, and spirit, and the Earth through joy. Megha directs Kripalu YogaDance Teacher Training, Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training, and Intro to Yoga and Meditation at Kripalu Center. She also leads yogadance and yoga at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica, as well as directing weekly classes in Let Your Yoga Dance for Parkinsons Disease at the Richmond Congregational Church in western Massachusetts.

Megha is the author of two yoga CDs: "Moontides", a yoga, meditation and chanting CD, and "Power and Grace", co-led with Devarshi Steve Hartman. Megha’s "Animal Songs" album is loved by little kids and big people alike.   www.letyouryogadance.com
