Teaching Hatha
Yoga I: Iyengar Basics
(9 hours
techniques, 3 hours Anatomy & Physiology)
This experiential workshop presenting the “Five
Basic
Elements” of
practicing and teaching asana is the first in a series of
three workshops focusing on expanding your teaching skills and
deepening your personal asana practice. The use of
props (blocks, straps, chairs, blankets, mats, etc.) in the Iyengar
method will be introduced.
March 3-5, 2006
Teaching
Hatha Yoga II:
Iyengar Principles of
Alignment
(9 hours
techniques, 3 hours Anatomy & Physiology)
In this second experiential workshop
using the Iyengar method, 14
principles of alignment for teaching and practicing asana are
addressed. Once again, an anatomically and physiologically based
teaching
approach is used to develop a deeper understanding of the postures
through a thorough examination of Iyengar alignment principles.
March 31-April 2,
2006
Teaching Hatha Yoga III:
An Iyengar Sequential
Approach
(9 hours
teaching methodology, 3 hours philosophy)
In this third workshop, a precise
step-by-step process for teaching
asana from the Iyengar approach is presented. Therefore, this
workshop is primarily designed for yoga teachers and those who aspire
to teach. Even though the sequential approach presented in the
workshop focuses on the teaching, it also inherently lends
itself to deepening one’s own personal practice due to the nature of
learning and practicing the process itself.
